Some clients have had issues where Forecaster Web Access shows blank reports, blank input screens, or blank Human Resources Master screens (or error messages on the screens) while the full Forecaster client shows these items with data.

When troubleshooting, one can remove columns or rows from a report (for example) and after removing some number of columns and/or rows, the data will start to appear in Forecaster Web Access.

This situation is typically due to a buffering limit in Microsoft's IIS web server software.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. On the server on which Microsoft Forecaster Web Access is installed (the web server), locate the Metabase.xml file. By default, this file is in one of the following locations:
    • C:\WINDOWS\System32\Inetsrv\Metabase.xml
    • C:\WINNT\System32\Inetsrv\Metabase.xml
  2. Open the Metabase.xml file by using Notepad.
  3. Find the ASPBufferingLimit parameter.
  4. Change the value of the ASPBufferingLimit parameter to -1, save the file, and then exit Notepad.

    Note: A value of -1 turns off the limit on the buffer size.
  5. Click Start, point to Run, type iisreset, and then click OK.

Performing the above steps should resolve the problem in Forecaster Web Access. If Forecaster Web Access does not begin to work properly, reboot the web server, then check to see if the change for the ASPBufferingLimit has been maintained. We have seen instances where IIS or Windows Server reverts the change to this setting.
